About Me and A Butterfly Flapping

Who Am I?

A retired public school teacher, I have taught in an inner-city junior high, a suburban junior high, a rural high school, and a small-town high school as well as a GED program. Teens of all shapes, sizes, and colors have studied and thrown spit wads in my classrooms. My goal in all those situations has been to make a difference in their lives.

Now serving a small church, I have preached, buried, married, taught Sunday School, and no doubt bored some of those sitting in the pews. We have also prayed together and managed to continue through major difficulties. Again, my goal has been to make a difference in their lives and encourage them to do the same for others.

What Is A Butterfly Flapping?

As a teacher, I have seen the changes in students in my classrooms and in other classrooms, changes for the better from teachers who encouraged and inspired their students, some mine and some in other classrooms.

As a preacher, I have watched people grow in their understanding of God and the Christian life, in my congregation and in other churches.

“A Butterfly Flapping” is an effort to encourage others to recognize the impact that others have had in their lives and that they can have in our hurting world. My goal is to share their stories. I began the blog with biblical butterflies (no, the word never appears in the Holy Scriptures) and am including contemporary “success” stories as they are lived and written.

Just So You Know
